Surgical Specialists
Devin “Shawn” Jensen, PA-C, is a certified and licensed physician assistant with Portneuf Orthopedics. His journey into orthopedics began in 2001 when he completed his Associate of Science in Physical Therapy Assistant Program, followed by a Bachelor of Science in biology from Eastern Washington University in 2005. In 2009 he received a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pace University- Lenox Hill Hospital PA program in New York City. Following graduation, Shawn began a career in orthopedics by caring for both surgical and non-surgical patients. Shawn’s expertise in caring for orthopedic patients and their unique needs transferred well to the patients he now serves at Portneuf.
Shawn was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after seeing his mother selflessly care for her aging father. Since his teenage years, Shawn has wanted a career that would allow for that kind of selfless service, and he saw that in medicine. Coming from a background in Physical Therapy work, Shawn found orthopedics as a natural fit. He is passionate about providing care to patients and enjoys helping them attain better health.
Shawn relocated to Pocatello from Lynnwood, Washington. He grew up in Bliss, Idaho and has family across the state, so when the opportunity arose to return home to Idaho, he gladly accepted.
Having spent time as a missionary in Belgrade, Serbia, Shawn is fluent in the Serbo-Croatian language and has experience as an interpreter.
When he is not practicing medicine, Shawn likes to spend his time with his wife and family. He enjoys taking cruises to new places and learning of new cultures and traditions. He also enjoys hiking, camping and skiing as well as any other activity that keeps him outside.
