Gregory Pennock, MD is a board certified cardiologist. He attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Arizona.

For Greg, the choice to pursue medicine was easy. Medicine perfectly blends his love for science and his desire to help others. And while service was a key component that drew him to medicine, Greg also sought to have a career that was challenging, science based and offered opportunities to play an important role in society.

Few specialties in medicine have progressed as rapidly as cardiology. The advances have changed the way we treat heart disease; in general, treatments have become less invasive and more proactive. The more we learn and know about the heart, the more we are able to take a more preventative approach to the disease and disease progression.

In his roles as both general cardiologist and as medical director of Portneuf Medical Group - Cardiology, Dr. Pennock is able to share his passion for patient care and use his expertise to continue to build on the foundation of excellence in cardiac care at Portneuf Medical Center.

A native to the area, in high school, Dr. Pennock worked as a groundskeeper at the Highland Golf Course and played football right here at Highland High School. It is exciting and nostalgic for him to return to the city and state that helped shape his early years. Practicing medicine in southeast Idaho provides a great opportunity for him to give back to the community where he grew up.

Despite his great Uncle being a hall of fame Yankee pitcher, Greg is a St. Louis Cardinal fanatic – go “Fredbird!” In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, participating in outdoor sports and spending time with his family.
