After a commission in the U.S. Navy, a Bachelor of Science degree from BYU Provo in Mechanical Engineering, and subsequent work at NASA aerospace sub-contractor in Brigham City, Dr. Otto decided to go into medicine. She earned her M.D. from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Further training in Cardiology and eventually in Electrophysiology took her to Philadelphia and Denver.
