Peter L. Fort, MD, FCCP, FAASM is a pulmonary and sleep medicine physician. He comes to Portneuf Medical Group from Reno, NV. Dr. Fort was drawn to a career in medicine due to his interest in the sciences, the gratification of making a challenging diagnosis, and a basic desire to make a difference in the lives of others; he earned his medical degree from George Washington University in 1991 and completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the USAF Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Peter completed his military services at Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood Texas and then worked in private practice in Bradenton and Orland Florida prior to moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 2011. In addition to providing care in the pulmonary clinic, he served as the Medical Director for both the Intensive Care Unit and Sleep Disorder Centers for Campbell County Health. An integral member of the medical staff, Dr. Fort extended his leadership role as a member of the Physician Leadership Council and Chairman of the Critical Care Committee.
In 2016, Dr. Fort left Gillette to initiate the advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy program at Renown Health in Reno, NV and looks to continue performing endobronchial ultrasound and electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopies at Portneuf Medical Center. He is board certified in both Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine and is a Fellow of both the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Fort enjoys cycling, skiing and hiking and also has a keen interest in photography. He is married to his ‘medical school’ sweetheart, Cyndi, and has two sons, Travis and Austin. Travis is a computer game programmer for Iron Galaxy Studios in Orlando, Florida and Austin is starting Tight End for the University of Wyoming football team.
