State of the Art Care
At Portneuf Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, our main goal is to provide quality diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services. We are committed to educating patients and families about appropriate screenings for gastrointestinal malignancies along with lifestyle counseling to promote gastrointestinal health.
Our gastroenterologists, each board certified in Internal Medicine, have spent an additional two to three years (fellowship) studying the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Diagnostic Endoscopy Center is an outpatient endoscopic facility specializing in colorectal cancer screening, digestive surgery and the treatment of digestive tract diseases.
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in the United States; which is why preventive screenings are so important. Recently, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has recommended reducing the age for an initial colon cancer screening from age 50 to 45. This recommendation includes two types of tests: colonoscopies, and stool-based tests.
Starting routine screenings five years earlier could help prevent deaths from colorectal cancer. Often, colorectal cancer does not cause symptoms until it has grown or spread. That's why it is best to be screened early. Screenings can even prevent some colorectal cancers by finding and removing pre-cancerous growths called polyps. If you are aged 45 or above, we recommend scheduling an appointment today for an initial colon cancer screening.
